The Rise and Fall of Flight West Airlines
If you worked for Flight West, or travelled with Flight West… then this DVD is for you!
Fifteen months in the making, Flight West is probably one of the best ever documentaries produced by Viewmark Films. And because of its historical content it will more than likely, become a collector’s item.
Essentially a regional airline, Flight West began operations in June 1987.
Established by the late Sir Dennis Buchanan, the company was headquartered in Brisbane Queensland.
Painstakingly researched and edited, this documentary is indeed a tribute to entrepreneurial spirit and enterprise and will delight lovers of Australian aviation history as well as former employees.
In only 14 years, Flight West went from three leased Super King Airs to a fleet of Fokker jets and turbo props, and for a period of time flew to Norfolk Island and Papua New Guinea.
Proof that “having a go” in a highly competitive environment was entirely possible.
The documentary is also a tribute to Sir Dennis Buchanan MBE who was prepared to risk everything to take up the reigns when a much larger airline withdrew its operations from regional Queensland.
The DVD Flight West is also a tribute to all those who worked for the company and to all those passengers who flew with the airline over its 14 year history.
